Vitamin D is a fat-soluble nutrient required for the absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus in the body. It is therefore needed for optimal bone health. Our bodies manufacture Vitamin D from the rays of the sun that fall on the skin. We also get Vitamin D from certain foods such as oily fish and eggs.
Many people develop Vitamin D deficiency as a result of spending the majority of their day indoors, wearing sun screen or protective clothing. This may lead to symptoms of depression, low bone density, high blood pressure, blood sugar imbalances, and lowered immunity.
